- Aili Garden / Hardoon’s Garden · 爱俪园 / 哈同花园
- Today
- Shanghai Exhibition Center · former garden site
The connection
Baghdad-born Silas Aaron Hardoon and his wife Luo Jialing made Aili Garden a centre of domestic and cultural life. The garden no longer survives. The Shanghai Exhibition Center was built on its former site: a change of place and era, not a renamed mansion.
What to look for
Read the site through its later exhibition buildings; do not expect to find Hardoon’s original house or garden.
Before you go
This entry marks a historical site. Entry to the present exhibition centre depends on its event arrangements.
