The connection
The museum tells the stories of Jewish refugees who found refuge in Shanghai during the 1930s and 1940s. Its grounds include the former Ohel Moishe Synagogue. This is a different chapter from the wealth of the Sassoon and Hardoon families: a history of displacement, survival and neighbours.
What to look for
Start with the former synagogue, then connect individual testimonies to the surrounding Hongkou neighbourhood.
Before you go
Use the museum’s official visitor page for current opening, ticket and identification requirements.
